A performative shade canopy which mimics the movement of thistle needles to create an interactive experience as well as generate energy.

Metal hairs move in the wind or by human interaction moving small magnetic generators creating current.
Analysis of the solar exposure of the canopy effects its parameters. A small angle between the sun angle and the perpendicular vector off the canopy creates short, dense, and thick hairs which provide shade. When the angle is large, hairs are long, wispy, and highly interactive.
